Why is my furnace making a loud noise? Here is the honest version: what you can safely check yourself in the next five minutes, what a technician usually finds when it is not that, and exactly what it costs to find out.

If this means no heat in the house: A home with no heat is treated as urgent and prioritized, often same-day. The emergency button on the booking page gets a callback within 60 seconds.
If one of these fixes it, you owe us nothing and we are glad. If not, the next part is what the visit is for.
Blower motor. Dirt is what kills a blower motor: it packs the bearings and smothers the cooling, and a dirty wheel is the proof it got in. The wheel and cabinet get pulled and cleaned, and the book says to look up into the coil while it is open. The dirt came past the filter, so the filter is where it stops next time: a rack or an air cleaner the homeowner can actually change.
Inducer. The book's most common cause of a dead motor is dirt, and dirt gets to the inducer the same way it gets to the blower: past the filter. A dirty wheel means the cabinet air is dirty, and the fix starts with pulling and cleaning what is already packed. And the book names the inducer by name among what unfiltered air kills.
Not turning on. A furnace that will not light is most often a clogged burner port or a defective ignition component, and clogged ports come from a burner nobody has cleaned. Unfiltered air is what packs the cabinet, and that is what eventually takes the inducer motor and the circuit board with it.
Limit control. A limit trips because the chamber overheated, and the chamber overheats because the air that should carry the heat away is blocked: a dirty wheel, a dirty coil, a choked filter. Adjusting the limit is not the repair; moving the air is. The blockage came past the filter, so the filter is the fix that keeps it from coming back.
These are the causes in the manufacturers' troubleshooting charts and the trade handbooks our technicians train on, in plain words. The visit proves which one it is with a meter before anything is replaced.
Filtered air and clean power are what a new motor needs to last; the amp draw tells you whether the duct is making it work too hard.
Filter every bit of air that enters the cabinet, and keep the chimney clear so the inducer is not pulling against a plugged vent.
